One Country-two systems discussion and Cao Erbao article

 

As concern grows over reports of growing direct intervention from Beijing in the domestic affairs of Hong Kong, Civic Debates presented a discussion on the topic of “The erosion of the one country-two systems concept” on 27 April. Joseph Cheng, Chair Professor of Political Science, and Ching Cheong, a veteran Hong Kong journalist, were invited as speakers to present their point of views on the issue.

Constitutional Reform Conference: Implementation of the Right to Vote and be Elected -- the Theory and the Practice

 

Civic Party and the Centre for Comparative and Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong organized a conference on “Implementation of the Right to vote and be elected -- the Theory and the Practice” on 28 March 2009. Over 60 people joined the conference.

Professor Ramcharan spoke on “The National Responsibility to Protect Human Rights”, Professor Lim discussed on Article 25 of the ICCPR and the UN Human Rights Committee’s General Comment on Article 25 and Ms. Margaret Ng discussed on Constitutional Reform in the light of Article 25.
